Tape Cataloguing
The Tape Cataloging Practice provides customers with a snapshot of what data is available to discovery prior to any expensive media restoration. This service is typically used to determine the scope of a media restoration by determining whether particular tapes are relevant or not for electronic discovery purposes. Relevance can be determined by time frame, data type or the existence of a custodian.
Since the new FRCP rules came into effect on December 1, 2006 there have been over 40 sanctions* indicating the courts are taking the new rules serious. Early Case Assessment (ECA) is an essential aspect of the new rules, it is essential to know what data sources exist and have legal hold capabilities on the relevant data.
ZANTAZ offers three levels of Tape Cataloging services that help identify what information exists on their backup media, The service is independent of other ZANTAZ archive and eDiscovery Services.
- Catalog Level One - This is a high-level catalog service for all major types of media and backup software. The high-level catalog service provides the customer with the following key information: 1) the name of the server that was backed up; 2) the date of the backup; and 3) the type of information on the tape (email vs. file system vs. application).
- Catalog Level Two - This is a low-level catalog service for all major types of media and backup software. The low-level catalog service provides the customer with all of the high level catalog information, plus file listing detail for file systems and mailbox names for email (e.g., Level I tells you there are Exchange 2000 files from a particular date range, whereas Level II tells you whose mailbox).
- Custom Catalog Service - Utilizing ZANTAZ exclusive IDOL capabilities, the services team can create custom catalogs based upon client defined concepts, lexicons, or other advanced (non-meta data based) search criteria.
Media Restoration
Restoring inaccessible files from backup media is time-consuming process that most customers simply don't have the resources, and often times capabilities, to complete themselves. ZANTAZ fully removes this burden from the customer -- having invested millions of dollars in a state-of-the-art restoration infrastructure so that customers' IT resources and dollars can be spent on more strategic projects.
Ultimately, customers can feel confident that no matter the size or source of the media, ZANTAZ will be able to restore the contents efficiently. ZANTAZ Media Restoration also saves money through its flexible approach to restoration, restoring only the data of targeted employees or specific date ranges if they choose.
The ZANTAZ Data Restoration service facility was built for the express purpose of conducting large-scale recovery and searches of customer data through a confidential, automated, streamlined process. This service can be leveraged for a wide range of media, platforms, email systems and backup software.
